The human mind is the most powerful of any animal in the natural world. It not only drives our bodies but has proven to influence events in our bodies. This effect can be categorized by the term placebo effect. Studies vary on how powerful this effect can be, being around 40-70% effective. This is why studies play a large part in medicine. The placebo effect is expected to be in a study as a margin of error. This seems to show that our minds have the power to heal and open up new possibilities.
The placebo effect is well documented in numerous studies. Though, the effect is not well understood. The why is something science can’t nail down yet, but it is a measurable effect. The observed effects range between reducing pain and mental health disorders. Surprisingly, the placebo effect may be stronger when the staff that administers the test believes its effects. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is one of the reasons double-blind studies and meta-analyses of them are a golden standard for clear results.
The human body is an amazing system. Its ability to self-repair and heal itself is astonishing. The exact mechanisms of this are not well-known or understood by the scientific community. It will be a while before we can unlock our full potential, so this effect, though not completely reliable at 100% can still be a major factor in your health.
There are a lot of ‘drugs’ in the market that are simply placebos. When considering the ethical considerations, I’m on the fence about this. If someone wants to purchase something and feel better about it, that’s great! But at the same time, false remedies could be an issue if people think it’s a treatment. Generally, in the medical field, you need informed consent for something that can affect your health.
The most important thing is the mind-body connection. Our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions can directly influence our physical health. This is a measurable effect of the law of attraction. Harnessing this itself is a skill, something I’ll cover sometime. A positive mindset goes a long ways.
