When you stop lying with others, you stop lying to yourself. Having integrity is a way to get better relationships, attract better people into your life, and increase your rate of attraction. Begging the question, what is integrity?
Simply put, integrity is being honest, trustworthy, and having strong moral principles. This is vital for creating healthy relationships, personal growth, attracting positive things in your life, and success.
Trust is interesting, the more you use, the less you have. Time is a valuable factor in gaining that trust. However, when we act with Integrity we demonstrate that we’re honest, reliable, and take accountability. This will help gain trust faster, especially as a reputation thing. This goes a long way in personal and professional settings.
Integrity is great for personal growth and self-awareness. When we act with a moral compass with our values and principles, we gain a sense of self-respect and confidence in our abilities., This, in turn, leads to a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment. This in turn helps with being content and grateful, which are key parts of attracting what we want.
- Integrity requires constant effort and self-reflection. Here are some tips to cultivate it in your life:Define your values and principles
These are beliefs and standards that are guiding principles for your actions and decisions. When you’re clear on your values, you’ll be more likely to act in accordance with them, being consistent and in challenging situations.
For me, a good start was the golden rule. Basically, treat others how you want to be treated. I formed most of my moral compass around this principle, and it has worked well for me.
- Act with honesty and transparency
These are essential for building trust with others, it sometimes helps to point this out. There are times you should withhold information and times you shouldn’t be transparent. Just because you’re being honest doesn’t mean you need to be rude all the time. Maturity is knowing when to hold back and not. Though, if people directly ask, I would be totally honest regardless of how much I don’t want to.
- Keep your word
Keeping your word is a key component of having integrity. Your word should be inscribed to your soul, do what you can to follow through. If you can’t meet a commitment, be honest about it and try to rectify the situation. If it helps, write them down. Writing things down have its way of becoming true.
- Take inventory of your progress
Taking inventory is a good way to bring things out in the open and establish how things are going. A good way to see if you’re on track or not. This will help in attracting things into your life as well. The only important thing here is that you’re keeping on task and trying. You don’t need perfection, just progress. You can finish any marathon as long as you keep going.
Regularly reflecting on your actions and decisions can help you stay aligned with your values and principles. Set aside time for introspection and self-reflection, and consider seeking feedback from others to gain a different perspective.
- Appreciate integrity in others
This may sound weird, but when you praise a positive attribute in others that you are seeking, this can help you obtain and emulate it. If you know someone that has integrity, make sure they mention it.
A story of integrity from someone I admired, they were giving an example of integrity. There was a stockholder meeting, the market looked ugly, and no one knew where the market would turn. There were many proposals and votes, arguments. It was a pretty intense meeting, with people in heated discussions and no one could settle any proposal. When it was this man’s turn to speak, he simply stood up and said, “I think we’ll make more money doing it this way.” Then sat back down. Overwhelmingly, the stockholders voted that in. Integrity and respect goes a long way.
Integrity will open a lot of doors in your life if you let it. It’s a high standard that few people even attempt. Still, it does go a long way when you at least try.
