Within us lies 3 parts of our soul, mind, body, and spirit. We’ll focus on the body and why it’s holding us back. The body itself has a mind of its own, this is separate from yours. Some people call it the subconscious, ID, ego, or many other things. As I understand it, the body has its conscious mind.
This mind doesn’t directly use words or give us dreams. This mind isn’t judgmental, it doesn’t give input on many things, but it will express itself sometimes. Though, you can meditate and give this a voice. This mind doesn’t lie very often unless you’re a sociopath or worse. After all, the main thing it wants to do and its only job is keeping you alive. The body does this by focusing deeply on one thing; keeping things the same.
Whatever you’ve done up to this point has worked. As long as we keep doing this, whatever this is, keep doing that. This is what preoccupies the mind most of the time. Those habits you have that you’re trying to break? The body doesn’t want them to change, after all; you’re alive! Those habits that you do to; brush your teeth, how to flip light switches, and how you put on shoes are all things it cares about. The only thing it may change its mind about is what you want to eat for dinner, breakfast, or any other meal. There, it has clear desires and will attempt to communicate these to you.
The body’s mind isn’t your enemy, but rather your ally trying to keep you healthy. The main issue is when you’re trying to attract something things it thinks is outside your scope of what you can get, obtain or receive. It will say; “No” to those things. If you’ve ever felt:
- “Yeah, right”
- “doubt it”
- “Nah”
- “I don’t think so”
- “Pfft”
- “Uh-huh”
- “Dream on”
- “Nope”
If you have felt or heard anything similar to that while you’re trying to do affirmations, that’s your body rejecting what you’re trying to attract. If you can convince your body of something, you’ll have a much easier time getting it.
This is a hang-up for a lot of people. Either deep down they think they don’t deserve something or there’s a part of themselves holding them back. When it comes to removing that block, there are many methods. I’ve mentioned some before, but here are a few I’m familiar with:
Meditation
Therapy
Reinforcing Affirmations
Visualization training
When it comes to meditation, I know the basics, and I’m not an expert here. I will mention the goal is to communicate with your body and look for unresolved needs.
The therapy route is someone who’s trained with this specific thing and exploring your belief system. Basically, a deconstruction to see where the blockage is.
Reinforcing Affirmations is basically arguing with yourself but concentrating on the affirmations. You do them often enough with enough repetition you’ll begin to believe them.
Visualization training is to diminish the dissenting voices. So the no isn’t very loud and gives you more control over your own body.
Just a basic list as there are many other options, a lot of them are dangerous, and I recommend proceeding with caution.
If you hear that voice telling you no, don’t fight it, accept it. Become clear with your feelings on where the issue relies, and then work on that. If you can find the pain point, you can begin the healing process and start to move forward from there.
Limiting Beliefs
It’s not just the body that can hold you back. Likely, you hold onto some ideas that limit your beliefs. Unlike the body holding on to these attempting to allow you to survive, these are incorrect things you have learned. However, these are a lot more difficult to observe and change. These can be about you not deserving something, self-doubt, worthiness are all limiting beliefs. I’ll cover this in more detail soon.
