Nature is an unforgiving, brutal force to be reckoned with. We often like to take breaks and relax by venturing into nature. Its awe-inspiring beauty and breathtaking landscapes often captivate our senses, leaving us in awe of its grandeur. However, beneath its serene facade lies a harsh reality – nature can be brutal and unforgiving. Animals eat each other to survive. Every creature on the Earth requires sustenance from another living creature to survive, except for plants. From the animal kingdom’s survival of the fittest to the unforgiving forces of natural disasters, nature’s ferocity is evident. What’s more, as humans, we are not exempt from nature’s wrath, and we too can easily succumb to its fury.
Animals
You don’t need to look far to see the brutality of nature. In the animal kingdom, it’s a constant battle for survival. Predators hunt and eat their prey, and the weak and vulnerable often fall victim to the harsh laws of nature. The circle of life is rarely gentle, as animals fight for territory, mates, and resources. This doesn’t exclude any animal, either. It’s a kill or be killed world. The instinct to survive and thrive drives animals to be ruthless, taking whatever measures necessary to ensure their survival, even if it means inflicting pain or harm on others.
Nature
Nature’s wrath, and natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires remind us of nature’s unforgiving power. These catastrophic events can leave destruction in their wake, causing devastation to human lives, homes, and entire communities. Nature shows no mercy, and the aftermath of such disasters serves as a stark reminder of our vulnerability in the face of nature’s relentless force.
Human and Nature
We as humans attempt to live with some comforts of life but, we are not separate from nature. Despite our advancements in technology, we are still part of the natural world, and we carry within us the same primal instincts that drive wild animals. While we have created civilizations with laws and systems to govern our behavior, history has shown that we are capable of reverting to nature’s brutality in uncertain times.
Throughout all of our history, we have witnessed acts of violence, wars, genocide, and cruelty perpetrated by humans against other humans. We have only glanced into the darker side of humanity, where the lust for power, greed, and unjust dominance has led to heinous acts of brutality. Despite our intellect and capacity for compassion, we are not immune to the primal instincts that nature has instilled in us. Those instincts are being used for good and evil.
In these situations, the veneer of civilization can quickly fade away, and people can devolve into barbarians. When faced with threats or challenges, we may resort to aggression, violence, or survival instincts, regardless of the consequences for others. The history of humanity is rife with examples of how easily we can succumb to our primal instincts and revert to nature.
It’s important to reflect on the brutal nature of the wild and acknowledge our capacity for ferocity. We must strive to understand and manage our primal instincts and channel them in positive ways. We can cultivate mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and empathy to navigate difficult situations with grace and compassion. Furthermore, we can also work towards creating a more just civilization where fairness and justice prevail over brutality and aggression.
In a world where kindness and empathy can sometimes seem like rare commodities, it’s crucial to remember that we can choose to make a positive difference. We can choose to break the cycle of brutality and foster a culture of compassion, respect, and understanding. We can choose to resist the people chipping away at the foundations of our civilization.
No civilization is perfect. But I can walk around safely, obtain food and company. I am full of gratitude for the small comforts of life. Be grateful for the many people who allow this civilization to thrive. I don’t have a hateful bone in my body. But the people that disappoint me the most are those that attempt to destroy our lives and civilization. I’m not talking about people changing society, which often changes and is very fluid. I’m talking about something, in the larger picture.
In short, the brutal nature of the wild is a stark reminder of the harsh realities of life, and as humans, we are not exempt from nature’s ferocity. However, we also possess the power to rise above it and choose a path of compassion, empathy, and charity. Our children should always have it better than ourselves. We should strive for a brighter future where the light is a guiding beacon in our lives.
